On my car every now and then the engine light goes on (Error P1259 VTEC Malfunctioning) and the engine does not go above 4,000 RPM. The problem goes away by itself after 50-100 miles.
I keep the oil level close to the maximum, so that is not the cause of the problem. The VTEC has been already changed 3 times. Recently a corroded pin was found on the VTEC connector. The pin was cleaned. Also both screens were removed, cleaned and re-installed, but I got another P1259 two days later. The problem seems to happen more frequently when I drive in heavy rain.

Any suggestions on what could be the cause of the VTEC malfunctioning?
