I have a 98 Honda civic ex and my trunk is leaking pretty bad. well atleast I think its the trunk. I had my amp back there and it got ruined and there is about 2 inches of water in my spare tire well. the car has not had a new rear window and it has si tail lights. I would love to put my system in but I don't want to ruin another set up till I get this fixed.

theres 2 areas i found.. the seam in the drain tract around the trunk opening and theres 2 holes on the back side. between the tail lights. These holes have a plastic cap covering them. Maybe your cap is missing.

So when the water drains down to your tail lights, it then goes horizontal and then down to the bumper area. behind the bumper is where these holes are at. you can reach nside the trunk and feel them. Just dont push on them. If one is mssing, then replace it.


Also, make sure your sunroof drain tube isnt disconnected.

 

Drop your back seats, lay on your back, and have a friend start spraying with a pressure washer. Find the leak. Most likely causes are the trunk seal itself, the tail light seals (if you've swapped the tails, this is a safe bet), and if I remember correctly, clogged sunroof drain tubes can also end up leaking in the trunk.

 

Lay your back seats down and crawl head first into the trunk with a flashlight. Have a friend run a water hose, without the spray nozzle on, around the rear window seal slowly starting at one of the top corners. Keep the hose at one spot for a couple of minutes and slowly work down the window and around the trunk lid, and taillights until you see something hopefully leaking. I say go slowly because it may take a little for it to start leaking.

thanks guys for all the help im gona do that tomorrow after work. it sucks I have ruined one amp already and the smell from water getting in sucks. its driving me crazy.
