05 Civic EX SE preventng the same thing to happen again ..
hello,
I ll be replacing the engine in the car that I have and I want to prevent the same thing that has happened already ( by the previous owner ), .. it over heated
I ll be changing the timing belt ( along w/ changing the water pump and tensioner ), oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, replacing the rear main seal ( pe ), radiator, hoses ( upper and lower ), w/ also changing the torque convertor seal on the transmission ( pe aka past experience ) ..
what can I get into while the engine is out ... from this happening again

In my experience with my 2004 civic with 204k miles, the reason why the car overheats is lack of maintenance to the cooling system. I would first check to see if the head gasket bad before replacing motor. If not, replace thermostat, radiator, maybe heater core for good measure, and replace coolant.
