H23a jdm 2.3 liter engine with dohc...please help!
Hi. I am actually posting for my 18 year old son. We recently bought him a 1997 Honda Accord EX coupe. It has the H23a jdm 2.3 liter engine with dohc, which was installed brand new in 2011. We live in rural Montana and repair shops or mechanics for this engine are not easily found...We are stumped
You see, this car sat in storage for three years prior to us buying it. Unknown to us at the time, the owner had started it up and driven it without first replacing the fuel. Just after we bought it, it started acting up as soon as he hits 2000 rpm...it "bogs down". Anyway, we have cleaned the fuel injectors, replaced the MAP sensor and throttle position sensor, changed the fuel filter and checked the cold air intake...they tried seafoam in the gas......Any ideas or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated as I'd like to get my son driving his new car ASAP for the summer
ANY advice or information regarding this engine would be awesome too! Thank you!!!

Treat it as if you would a H22A from a Prelude.
Just to note:
1. It wouldn't have been brand new in 2011. The motor would've been used from Japan, low miles maybe, but not new.
2. You don't note what ECU is currently installed with it.
3. You don't know what program is on the ECU, and I definitely don't know what you mean by "set for 4000 rpm" - maybe the VTEC engagement?
Honestly, I'd recommend figuring out what exactly you have before you do anything with it. I don't think I would've bought a mystery swapped Accord that isn't running right for an 18 year old.
If it's been converted to ODBI from ODBIIa then I'd maybe look at getting a properly chipped ECU with a new basemap. I've got a feeling you're running some random ECU with some random basemap and it's barely running.
