Default 92 civic electrical gremlins

I have a 1992 dx hatch 5 speed

speedo works occasionally and occasionally it flutters and jumps all over the place but mostly it just reads 0 mph. have no idea why

tailights and dash lights take a little while to come on but whether they are on or off they seem to be in synch with each other which would make sense.
when i bought the car I was told "the car needs to warm up first before the tailights work"... lol

Im not necesarily looking for a solution atm, just wondering if this is a common problem with civics 92-95 (intermittent electrical issues)
dont get me wrong any info or a solution would be greatly appreciated!

Any CEL codes?

Check the light switch on the steering column. It may have some corroded terminals.

No Cel's but who knows the poor little bulb could have burned out. The lady who owned the car before me kind of ran the car into the ground

Easy to test. Turn key from OFF to ON(II). Does CEL ever turn on?

just tried it and the CEL light came on for a moment when i turned the key in the ignition

So no. there is not a CEL

also fixed the tailight problem, it was a faulty turn signal switch arm thing what ever i got one from a JY

also found out the dash light problem is not connected to the tail lights in anyway

Check the dimmer switch.

Suggests a bad speedometer or cluster, or broken wire between VSS and cluster.

Im a noob, VSS?

is that a "variable speed sensor"?

Replacing the cluster was the next step, had one in my hands but had to let it go to get a good deal on my wagon of parts at the JY

been super busy with work so im just happy the tailight problem is fixed
