Question about possible detonation??
Hi, I recently bought a 1991 Honda Accord with a F23A JDM VTEC single cam engine, 5 Speed Manual, 500cc injectors, and a turbo setup. I need a P06 ECU that is chipped and tuned to a P28 to run the motor. The guy I bought it from said a stock '95 Civic ECU will run the motor as long as I am not running any boost from the turbo. He said there might be a chance that the motor will detonate from the increased fuel from the injectors and the decrease in air from not running the boost from the turbo. I want to know if I run the motor at low RPMs with the '95 Civic ECU if detonation will occur? Please help don't have a vehicle until my new chipped and tuned ECU gets in. I have a stock Civic ECU that I can put in if it will work.
Running rich can make your car overheat if not corrected. The tuned po6 will correctly adjust the air to fuel mixture for the larger injectors, the stock civic ecu will make you run rich.
