Default Gsr b20v swap wont rev past 4500

Hey guys . I've been doing some reading and I can't seem to figure out why my gsr won't pass 4500 on any gear . It's like it's limited . I've read that it could have been a dizzy but my dizzy is brand new . I have a p72 ecu I read that it could have been a possibility so I tried my buddies p72 off of his b20 swap. My car still wouldn't rev passed 4500. I do have a check engine light on and I did my own diag . It's obd1 and the only code it's giving me is 21 which is the vtec solenoid. I replaced the solenoid and oil pressure switch already. I still have the same problem. If I haven't tried something please let me know. I'm out of ideas . Thanks for your time you guys .

Start with checking the wiring for contiunity from ecu end to plugs and solenoid. Sounds like your ecu is in limp mode.

Code 21 won't let you rev past 4500. Do the code 21 trouble shooting from the manual.

that code 21 that you dont appear to think is related is the reason you're in limp mode right now which is why u can't go over 4400

probably a simple wire open

Hey guys sorry I haven't got back to you guys sooner . So i had just installed a new vtec solenoid w/ pressure switch. I connected it to my p72 and now I have no CEL . So that fixed one problem . I reset my ecu, brand new distributor . Wires are in the right sections . MAP and TPS sensors are connected properly . Even with no CEL I tried to get a code, my ECU is no longer throwing code21 .

My wiring looks good . I tested the wires no open circuits .

But I'm still having that same problem guys . My engine will not pass 4500rpms . Is there any other ideas that I have not tried ? Did I miss anything ?

always when it's warmed up . I always let it idle for like 20-30 minutes before I try revving it up .

Always when it's warm . I let it idle for about 20minutes or when temp is at least before half, that's when I usually start messing with the engine .

You said it has a brand new distributor. Is it the same distributor as you mentioned in the first post? Or you replaced it again?
