Engine Instantly Dies At High RPM
So I have literally spent weeks asking around forums and in person and nobody seems to have a ******* clue about what is going on. So let me explain the problem as simply and as straight forward as humanly possible.
So I'm driving down the road at about 60-70 mph. If I push the rpms above about 4000 or start getting near there sometimes the car will literally instantly die. No sputtering, no jerking, grinding, or thumping, or engine knocking. Literally nothing. IT JUST DIES. So I will literally go from 4000 to 0 rpms in an instant with no grinding or any sort of indication that it is a mechanical problem. This leads me to think that it may be electrical. So. Any suggestions?.

Posting what car it is would be helpful.
Check for any stored codes.
If your CEL or D4 lamps do not work you will need to replace them, unless the car is OBDII then use an OBDII code reader.
Verify fuel pressure is correct, preferably under load.
Verify TPS has no dead spots.
Verify MAP has no dead spots.
Verify air filter is not clogged.
Verify spark plugs are properly gapped and not worn.
Verify spark is white/blue, orange spark is a weak spark.
Verify it is not a temperature related issue. If the problem is repeatable when the car is cold, warmed up, and heat soaked then it may be an issue elsewhere.
Verify battery connections are clean and tight, and the battery is holing a full charge.
