It is not something you want to try if you have no experience doing it.

The ports are cleaned and enlarged to promote better flow. If you do it wrong/take off too much material/uneven porting. You are screwed and will just ruin the head.

Gains would be minimal on a relatively stock engine, but it can yield great gains on a worked motor.

Biggest danger....remove too much material (grinding)....cut into water jackets.

Ruined head. Better left to pros.

niedejb, is the F22b1 in your car similar to the F22b1 in a honda accord. If so, can you possibly send me a list of your mods made in oder to gain the hp & torque you have. I plan on boosting my car within a year and need to know where I should start to build my motor.

Does anyone know of any good books or online info on how to port & polish? There is a guy by me who will do it for $40 if I pull the head but he is a domestic guy. I'm thinking about doing it myself and if I screw it up, I'm still planning on the H22 so...

the trick is to maintain generally the same port volume and alter the shape as not to lose port velocity which in turn will kill tq and hp numbers

big ports are good for insane cam/fi super high revs etc....
