Default 1996 Civic with 1381 obd code

I have been checking things on the new 96 civic ex I recently got. It has the 1.6 non vtec engine. I pulled codes with cel burning and found code 1381. From research I have checked the wires running down the front of the engine but didn't see an issue from belt rub. Also found the problem could be something inside the dizzy or possibly a diode in the alt. Not 100% sure if these issues could apply to my car/ engine and if so where would someone suggest starting? I have the dizzy in my 93 civic which is actually a 95 1.6 vtec, if they are exchangeable I could try? All suggestions welcome please, thanks

p1381 is for the cylinder position sensor. Probably the distributor. How is the car running?

It has a little miss, hick up, as you start to press the gas. More noticeable when going through the gear than just sitting still. If you come to a stop pretty quick, sometimes it will cut off, then fire right back up with no trouble. After getting through the one spot it runs smooth. Also seems to idle smoothly. I can clear the codes with engine idling and cel will stay off until I touch the accelerator and it has a small miss and the cel comes back on.

Is there a sensor in the dist. that I can or need to test or just the sensor at the crank? Thanks

Sorry, my manual for this car hasn't come yet and the old one I have only covers through 95. From other post I see the cyp sensor is in the dist so I will search for the testing procedures tomorrow. Thanks, Mike

I performed all test as above and come down to the ecm being the problem. I decided to remove the cap and rotor just to satisfy my own curiosity even though the manual said everything was fine (perfect numbers on everything when I ohm it, and nothing shorted to casing or grounded). I found the first longest sensor behind the coil didn't have any screws in it. It had rubbed the rotor and had a little visible damage. I replaced the screw and tried but the cel still come right back on. I swapped the dizzy when one from the junk yard and presto, No cel. I only run it 10 min or so yesterday so I will drive it a little more and see if anything comes back.
