Default what will cause a 5th gear pop out and but no grinds

I have a gsr hydro and when I put it in 5th and give it 20% throttle or higher it will pop out but if I barely get on it, it won't pop out. It doesn't grind going in. My mounts are solid and shift linkage is straight. Which part of these will cause a pop out?

Usually a pop out is due to worn dog teeth on the gear and worn engagement teeth on the inside of the slider sleeve.

Its possible the spring that holds the steel ball against the shift rod is bent and not applying enough pressure to hold it in gear.

From the picture you have posted, it appears that you have two problem parts and I suspect that one additional part should be replaced with the other two.

The teeth on the 5th mainshaft gear are definitely worn... replace it.
The 5th/Rev shift fork appears to be worn on both faces reducing it's throw... replace it.
The shift forks reduction in throw usually damages the teeth on the 5th/Rev sleeve... replace it too.

If the trans is properly topped off with fluid, this should fix your 5th gear "pop out" issues.

As for 2nd gear grinding at high rpm... examine all three "grind" related components and replace as necessary. These include the obvious synchro ring, 1st/2nd slider, and the 2nd countershaft gear itself.

You see how rounded your dog teeth are .. then look at the other pic.

The dog teeth need to be sharp with a point. Yours are rounded off.

I notice when I pull the transmission out of the car, there was just under a qt of oil in it. Would this cause the 5th pop out as you stated being with low fluids?

It's not a good thing to have under a quart of oil in the trans but your problem is due to the 5th sleeve being installed upside down as previously stated. The gear is also worn and probably the sleeve. Maybe that is why someone turned it over trying to use the reverse side that was in better condition? Unfortunately this will not work as the reverse side does not have the cutback in the teeth to hold it in gear.

Change the worn gear and sleeve and install it correctly to fix the pop out

Thank you, are you talking about the 5th gear itself that needs to be replace or the dog teeth? Chances are I need a new sleeve correct?

The 5th dog teeth are part of the gear.
Change the worn gear and sleeve and install it correctly to fix the pop out.
