egr delete cel
im trying to get my 5th gen type sh to pass a new york state inspection currently. it has a jdm h22a swap in it and a skunk2 intake manifold. the problem im running into is when the manifold was installed egr was deleted. and now i have a code prohibiting me from passing inspection. is it possible to hook up a egr valve to a skunk2 manifold? is there a way i can wire in a solenoid or some chip to keep the code gone long enough to pass inspection?
not trying to be a turd but i said i live in new york... no smog test. just plug into obd2 port send codes to dmv, and visual inspection. im just trying to figure out if i need to buy a stock manifold or if i can trick the ecu into thinking the egr is working. thanks for the help
Sounds like no visual inspection, you just need it plugged in to show that code is not there. From what I gather, you cannot run an obdI ecu, as it will not connect and show the "ready" signal that the obdII does.
The EGR system looks for a few things from what I recall, so just plugging in the valve won't work, as it needs to see some vacuum. People have tried making a plate with a small hole to allow some flow through so that the valve can move, might want to look into that. Otherwise you may have to just swap out to the stock manifold for a couple of days to get the system to read the code and pass the inspection. If you don't have one, you should be able to track one down pretty easily.

thanks i just purchased an egr valve im going to try to just hook that up and get it to work. worst come to worse i guess ill have to buy a stock manifold. how much do these usually run for? i found one on ebay for 350 plus shipping but i am hoping i can find one cheaper
update: bought an egr still throwing code. ima try to make a plate to restrict the valve moving so it detects flow. right now it still is throwing a code for insufficient lift. if this doesnt work im selling the skunk2 and buying a stock manifold.
