I need some help deciding on a chipped ECU
Here's my dilemma. I had a basemapped p28 done a few years ago. I don't remember him hooking it to a computer or anything to put any info on the chip. That being said, I just recently discovered that I blew a transistor in the ECU and will need a new one. I am under the impression I would be able to take the chip out of my existing ECU (SST) and put it into a new socketed ECU. Is this correct? But, like I said I don't remember him putting anything on the chip....
I am running a D15B, AEM cam gear, Walbro 255 fuel pump, I believe 550 injectors (more than I need, I was building for bigger back then), DC header, and a JRSC. I am just planning to get this car running to its peak performance and leave it that way. I don't want to do any more mods as it will be my daily driver.
So here is my question. Which chipped ECU would suit me best? Hondata, crome, etc.. I am not very knowledgeable in the chipped ECU department.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Since you blew this p28 you will just need another P28 that's chipped and socketed to receive the basemapped SST that you already have (it should work, if it doesn't you will just need a new basemap or a dyno tune).
You know why you blew the transistor right?
Most likely you blew the Q31 transistor because you mixed up the connections for IAT and the evap solenoid. It is a common problem and the ECU can almost always be repaired.

You sure you didn't blow a capacitor instead?
I recently had my capacitors replaced in my p28.
you may not need a whole new ecu. You can sometimes repair components on the board for less $.

Depending on how bad the damage is... Most times a leaking/shorted cap can be replaced vs buying a new ECU. I have repaired quite a few that even had bad burns to the board... As long as the trace is still there it can be fixed for less then the cost of a new ECU.
I replace all the major capacitors when I chip these ECU's. These caps have ratings and most have long since past there rated hours of usage.
