Default Sticky Dash Issue - 2009 Civic

Are there any known issues with the dash becoming sticky over time?

We have a 2009 Civic EX Coupe (black interior) and the dash is so tacky, it's almost impossible to clean the dash and door plastics. If you try to move a dry microfiber cloth across the plastic, it gets stuck and smears the dash.

I usually use Aerospace 303 protectant on all my cars and I've never experienced this with other vehicles. For what it's worth, we bought this car brand new and it's been garaged most of it's life. Sunshield used anytime parked outside and it's got Pinnacle Formula One tint from day 1 (Dallas, TX).

Anyone else have this issue? I know Lexus vehicles had this issue on some models/years.

2006 Civic, no issues here, using the same protectant you're using.

One of my nephews bought a used 2007 Civic EX coupe (with black interior) and I tried to clean the dash with various cleaners. It was also tacky and the microfiber would get stuck. Most cleaners did nothing on the tacky surface. Lexol Vinylex cleaner/protectant seemed to get some of the stuff off; but, I didn't want to spend an hour or more to see if I could get it all off.

Could it be from the cleaners you are using? I have only ever used a damp clean cloth on mine.

I don't believe the cleaners are the issue.

Aerospace 303 is top notch and known as a phenomenal protectant. It leaves a matte stock like feel behind, rather than a greasy shiny result.

We did use the Honda provided cleaner and perhaps this had an effect? I plan on taking it to the dealer soon to find out.

The Honda approved stuff could be the clincher. I have never been steered wrong with a damp cloth.
