Front Clunk - When turning over bump
Hi All-
I have an 05 Civic LX. About 150K miles.
Starts and runs great, but developing some sort of suspension problem.
I get a clunk while turning and going over a bump (ie a speed bump, pot hole, or even up/down a steep slant). Sometimes this produces a short sequence of clunks (2-3), but it is usually just a single clunk.
This is particularly prominent at low speeds, >15mph
I have not noticed a clunk or other seemingly suspension related noise during any other time.
I have a fair amount of car experience, but I'm not sure of a sequence to narrow this down to a particular component.
Any advice would be appreciated. Feel free to ask questions as needed. I hope that this can help others as well!
Thank you!

I'm pretty sure it's your bushing on the lower control arm. I have the same noise and in the process of getting them fixed. I'm considering just buying the parts and having a local shop do the labor if they allow me bringing the parts. I believe the controls arms with bushings are about $50 each. I'm not sure what other parts should/need to be replaced when getting in there. Comments/suggestions are welcome.
It's kind of obvious, but the mounts for the muffler can also cause a noise that responds to bumps like the suspension might. My "doughnut" had just come loose and when I put it back, things got much quieter.

I developed a clunk sound after lowering my 2005 civic ex. I replaced the struts and springs completely and this sound came out of nowhere. Ended up changing the LCA bushings as well as the ball joints and it was still there. Sooooo after doing some digging it ended up being "coil slap" as they call it. The dead coils tend to bind up when turning at low speeds creating a "pop" or "clunk" sound. Bought Tein spring silencers made out of rubber and the problem is solved! If this doesn't work just go down the list!! : Strut bearings, LCA bushings, CV joints, axles, tie rods etc. Don't give up, you'll find out what it is.
Well turns out my clunk was just "coil slap" as they call it. My friend suspension was binding up creating a knocking sound. So I lurchased Tein Spring Silencers and the sound is absolutely gone. I love simple fixes.
