When I start my 97 LX up, it idles high, around 2000 RPMs, as the car warms up it will slowly ease itself down to about 850. Does this commonly occur for everyone else?
The moment I shift from Park to Drive, the Idle drops below 1000rpm.
Completely stock, no surging. Fresh fuel filter, spark plugs and wires are not too old either. All look good.
Bleed the cooling system last night, no dice.
No CEL.
Thoughts, suggestions?

Yes, cars idle higher when cold until warm up, as well as running rich. If it takes too long to warm up, check thermostat.
And the computer cuts fuel to drop the Rpms on purpose so that u don't destroy your transmission. Howevee and idle of 850 sound a little too high for me.

That is completely normal. It is Honda's fast idle thermal valve that controls the cold start via the actual coolant temperature. When the engine is cold it will be open to allow more air into the intake. As the coolant/engine warms up the valve closes. Helps bring the engine up to operating temps faster.
Base idle should be 750 +/- 50 rpm. 850 is slightly high. You may have a small vacuum leak or the base idle requires adjustment.
