01 Civic Limp Mode Issue
Hi guys, hoping you can help...I'll try to be as detailed as possible w/o being long winded. A few months ago I was given an 01 Civic LX by my sister after my old car died off. She told me her mechanic had told them it would need the following items: transmission solenoid, water pump and timing belt (hence why she just gave it to me huh?). I took it to a mechanic friend of mine who promptly said no timing belt was needed, the water pump was fine and the only thing he could see it needed was an exhaust manifold gasket. So, we went ahead and ignored the transmission issue as well, figuring the guy was looking to make a buck.
As its warmed up, the limp mode issue has started. I took it for a scan and got P1361 as well as an oxygen sensor code. Yesterday we replaced the camshaft position sensor (the code) and the O2 sensor and took it for a drive. It was 77 and humid here yesterday, so we ran the AC at full blast to intentionally stress the engine. About a mile and a half later..limp mode again. Back for a scan....P1361. We haven't checked the voltage on it (no voltmeter available yet), but this morning I took it out again after it sat for almost 9 hours...got 6 miles out of it at my usual speeds of 25-40 (everything for me..grocery, work, etc is within 5 miles) and no AC (64 and dry cool air) before it once again limp moded.
So, the issue is worse when its hot/humid outside and it remains the p1361 code. Does anyone have a clue that might help lead us to the cause without having to take it to a high dollar "professional" mechanic?
Thank you very much.

I had forgotten about this post! Ooops! Yes, I did, it was the crankshaft sensor apparently, I took it into a local shop. I think that transmission solenoid issue that was mentioned above was real, as it now runs good, but doesn't like to shift out of 1st & 2nd when its warm and/or going uphill. Im leaning towards the shift solenoid in that case.
