Icon3 1995 2.2 EX (CD5 F22B1 Automatic) My precious

After having to move to Brazil and being forced to sell my Coupe (CD9) and Earodeck (CE2) I thought I would never own another CD series Accord..

After being here for a while I "suddenly" noticed what appeared to be a very clean CD5 for sale...after moving hell and earth I am happy to say I am the more then proud owner of a clean CD5 EX in Black metalic.

In this thread I will share my ups and downs of my Eleanor.

Ok on the ride home the Airco was to cold so I set it a bit higher....big mistake as it has not really been cooling properly ever since..

Day 3 I want to reset the travel Odometer to see how much my car consumes... Goes a bit stiff so I press again and the Odometer stops working.. fck..

Sprung a hole in the radiator and upper radiator hose... both fixed.. working on the Airco and Odometer problem but have not found a helpfull thread for those yet.
(yes using the search function also)

The odometer is on 154399 Km´s , 95939 Miles... any help would be appreciated.

Two more..

Another issue I need to figure out is why the Maintenance "light" will not reset after poking into the hole with my car key.

Ok sorted the Odometer by pressing the maintenance reset button.
with one move three issues sorted:
Odometer trip works again
Odometer total works again
Maintenance reset worked this time around.

Welcome to the Americas!

Odo/Mainteinance buttons were sticky after getting my CD's. Fairly sure the previous owners never used them and my tripometer was goofed for a while until I exercised the button a few times as well.

Check your heater control valve underhood, verify the valve/cable moves when you rotate the temp dial in the cabin.

Thanks Mike much appreciated!

Will check the valve and see if it and the cable function properly.
I notice that the temperature goes up on the highway but at lower speeds it gets colder.

Thanks mate,

The cars cooling system issues are fixed, need to get the airco to work properly.

Got 4 new tires and just now noticed the two front wheels clear coat has been damaged..
Checking for a proper fix for that and my latest gripe...
Toxic bird doodoo that ate the clear coat on the roof of the car.

Probably the AC fan is not working.
Pop the hood and turn your AC on with the fan on any setting other than OFF. Does the secondary fan come on at all?

Just me but at speed (highway) there is enough air being forced thru the cond/rad that the cooling fans are not really needed.

Also just so I'm clear. The temp of the air inside the car changes with speed - not the engine coolant temp.....correct.

If so, then yes I would want to put some gauges on the AC system and check the pressures.

Up to now it happened twice on longer journeys that it would start to blow warm air when the Airco was on the coldest position.
The first time was after it was getting to cold in the car and I put it a bit warmer...after it got to warm I could not get it to blow cold air anymore... The second time it just started blowing warm air while driving on the highway and when getting of the highway at a lower speed it turned cold again...
Broke a finger after getting bitten by one of two guard dogs trying to kill our cat so have not been able to check anything yet.

Is it possible that the cable connecting the heater dial to the valve, or the valve itself, is broken?

Airco issue is possibly fixed and related to my overheating issue.

The engine's intake manifold gasket was broke near the water tunnel, I am suspecting the steam was being blown into my Airco intake some times.

Not sure yet if it is the actual cause, will post more info when I know more.

Thanks mate,

Still waiting for the Radiator to arrive so not sure if all is well now with the cooling system.

Also started a FB page since I could not find any other proper Accord page.
