Just wanted some input as to the problem. I have a 98 Acura EL, which has the same engine as the Civic EX in the states. When I attemped to start my car this morning all you could hear was click-click. It wasn't turning over at all. The thing is that all EL's up in Canada have been recalled for a faulty ignition switch, do you think this is causing the problem?

Have you checked your battery and connections?

 

sounds like the battery went out on you.... it cant be the dist because the motor dont even have enough power to turn....

 

...or your main relay.

 

or the starter... Start simple, check all the contectors and battery terminals for corosion, tightness. Next check the battery, if it is dead, bingo (then ask yourself why it died), If it is charged then go to the starter and relays, blown fuses etc. My starter went and when it did it would A ground out and drain the battery and then when the battery was charged it would either not crank or crank and kill the battery again. Also, it would make the gauges go haywire cause there was a ground. Ask yourself this, has the car been acting normal? If no then I say you have a ground problem. If yes then who knows, but go simple first, check the battery...
