Default 1995 accord motor swap

I have an accord with the f22b2. It is running like craps leaking transmission fluid. My friend has an d15z1 with transmission I can get for cheap. Can I swap the f2 out for the d1?? I don't want a race car. I need the car running and driving. Nothing else matters.

IF you have to change the motor, you'd be better off with another F22. You might look at the price of the F22 vs. the F23 (98-02). With the motor out, fixing leaks (seals) on the trans will be an easy job, the 5th gen trans are a pretty solid unit IMHO.

What issues are you having with the current motor?

I'm hearing some value knock, the transmission is cracked/chipped on the left side of the housing. From the starter if you look at housing towards fire wall the transmission on that side (back side of the motor) has a huge chip that I can stick my finger in. I just bought this car, I just need wheel to get around. I have a d15z1 motor and transmission from a civic sitting, I need to know if there is any chance that the d15z1 will work in my accord?

Not without custom mounts and axle shafts. You will also need the ECU and all of the engines sensors and electrical connections (wire harness) to match the D15.

If you have both engines there you can take some measurements and verify this yourself. I have never personally tried swapping a D series of B series. I just know how much work it is to get other F series and H series engines in these bays. Takes some parts swapping/matching!

Ok would the axles that came from the civic with the d15z1 bolt on to my accord? I looked at the motor mounts thay are in the same place on both motors. Does that make any difference? Or no because the civic is small then the accord?

I'm pretty sure you would need to have custom axles made-up. the Accord is wider and has different spindles than the Civic.

This is one of those situations where If you have to ask, don't try it. Focus on finding a new F22+trans to put in, you WILL spend more money on the D15 swap.

Right on thank you for all the information. It's greatly appreciated. Now just to find a new transmission. Would you know where I could trade my d1 with transmission for an f2 with transmission. Or trade motor for transmission? Just any idea of a trade? Don't need this d15 now so I can use it as trade for something that will work for my accord

Post it/them for sale or trade on a few sites and see what "hits" you get.

Again just me but the auto trans in the 5th gens is a solid unit and if you just have "leaks".....fix the leaks.....do you even know where the leaks "might be" coming from?

If you just want the car running and driving i dont get why you want to try putting a d series motor and tranny in there.

+1 manny no joke man im reading this thinking like WTF?!?!?!?

Uhhhh hey OP SELL THAT D-SERIES NOW seriously. Its not going in ur car. Nextly take the proceeds to a reputable salvage yard get yourself the appropriate F-series Engine (if its knocking like you say) AND transmission if your current transmission has truly "**** the proverbial bed". And by "reputable" i mean at least a 90 day warranty and returns accepted or credited and in good standing with the Better Business Bureau.

On a side note OP you should be cautious and do your own research bud. There are very few people on HT that you should be taking advice from. Research and learn from the Vets on here. Most of these noobs will have you on the side of the road calling AAA. Good luck.

OP do some searches and find people that have tried doing what you are planning on attempting to do.

Not saying it aint possible but gping by your statement, its not worth it.
