Default hp gains

I am very new to the car scene and I currently own a 99 civic si. Like any car fanatic, I want to go faster. The car is my daily and I'm not looking for a crazy amount of hp. You guys tell me what would be a reasonable hp goal for this car. My budget is also very small. Currently I have 1k to put towards the car, but I am also looking for long term goals so... Turbo? Engine swap? Sell car and find better?

An opinion poll is not a technical topic.

The link you liked is in the FAQs sticky, as well as another very popular one.

If your eyes can't see the FAQs sticky staring at you on the forum page, then just click the one in my signature.

First car huh?

Here's something I wish someone told me when I was on my first car.

KEEP. IT. STOCK.

Learn how to keep up with the maintenance, and learn the in-s and out-s of cars.

Ultimately, save up for something better.

Great advice.

If you only spent a grand for the car it sounds like you won't have a lot to put into it in the immediate future. What model and transmission is yours? If you have an EX (Vtec) with manual transmission it could be a fun car to drive with some suspension work. Cornering is where it's at.. don't worry about straight line speed.
