Rattling from front end
Hey guys,
I've got a 96 Accord that has a rattling noise coming from somewhere in the front end. It only happens when the car is in gear, I'm pretty new to working on cars and can't really figure out where the noise is coming from, any help would be great.
Cheers

Are you just hearing it or are you feeling it in the steering wheel? or suspension? or Pedal(s)? Manual or auto transmission?
Can you post a video or sound bite?

Cannot feel the rattle.
Took the exhaust manifold heat shield off and it definitely decreased the severity of the noise. Could it be the exhaust heat shield further down also rattling?
Will post a sound clip tomorrow.
THanks

It could be. Check all the heat shields to be sure. Also, those heat shields are important so, think about replacing the one you took off.
You could jack up the front end and listen while hitting the throttle. Be sure to use stands and not just the jack, that's just asking for trouble.

The rattle is the symptom, you want to look for the problem. It could be loose or worn bolts on the shields. It could also be worn motor mounts.
I would have someone sit in the car with the foot on the brake and go through the gears- if you see the motor move excessively- check your mounts. This could be the issue- and what is causing the noticeable vibrations.
