Noisy Front End
My car (96 ek coupe) produces a lot of squeaking that I cannot seem to pinpoint. So I want to share all of my symptoms and diagnostics in hope that you guys can help.
This noise has been going on for nearly a year now, and I've recently begun trying to fix it. I know it seems like a long time to wait to get around to it, but the car was down for months with a blown motor, so I was not driving it for a while.
Symptoms:
-A lot of noise while turning the wheel. It sounds like... if Optimus Prime sat around and got very rusted, then tried to lift his arm for the first time in a century.
-Slight noise over bumps. It just produces a small, high pitch squeak.
So far, I've replaced the bushing at the end of my sway bars, and greased up my ball joints; Did not help at all. While trying to pinpoint the noise, I did notice a few things though:
-It makes the most noise while the wheel is closest to being straight. When you turn the wheel furthest in either direction, it lessens and gets higher pitch. Also, when it turns all the way left, the noise fades completely from the right side; and vice versa.
-While the car is on jackstands (at the frame), and the suspension parts hang, there is no noise. Turning the wheel doesn't make the noise, and jacking up the suspension by the control arm or w/e does not make noise.
HALP! Need more quiet!
