E-brake gone.

E-brake gone.
Wanna scare someone driving my car......do 70 on the freeway and pull the e-brake up!
Yup. I changed the shoes in the back of my EH. Now no e-brake. I pulled the drums back off and had a friend pull the brake. Everything looks the be working fine and hooked up correctly on both sides. I can pull the handle as high as I want to and nothing happens. I've already adjusted the cable inside the center console.
.....any ideas?
