Default ECU compatibility??

I currently have a p 28(I think) in my 93 civic DX with a 1.6l VTEC work engine. I am going to replace the engine with a stock 1.5l non VTEC engine. My question is will the ecu run the engine?? I am sure it would throw some type of cel, but I need to know if I could get by with it for a while until I could get a PO6? Thanks for the help.

It will run the car, but you will definately get CEL for the VtEC solenoid not being present and whatnot.
