Is it ok to use D15 camshaft holding caps (rocker assembly) from a different engine
Is it ok to use D15 camshaft holding caps (rocker assembly) from a different engine? Are they interchangeable?
I was trying to replace my engine head assembly. And then I got a remanufactured head... bad thing is one rocker from the remanufactured head is bad.......So I put my old rocker arm assembly into the new (remanufactured) head......Is it Ok? Now it runs fine. So far I have put about 500 miles on the engine... A little bit noise coming from the head.... It could be the valve lash...... but everything runs fine........
I am thinking of using the rocker arm assembly that came with the head, just replace the bad rocker....... Or maybe I don't have to bother to do it.....?

The caps that hold the camshaft in place are match drilled to each head, mixing them up between heads is rolling the dice on whether they match up or not. To do it properly it would require what is called an "align bore" where they take the new caps and rematch it to your existing head (not cheap). Now replacing individual rockers isn't a big deal as long as you reassemble everything correctly and reset the valve lash. Since you took the entire cradle/rocker assembly as a whole and already assembled it AND put some mileage on it, whatever damage might have occurred is already done.

Keep the cam caps with the head they came on and swap the rockers and shafts over from one to the other.
