Default Low idle

I have a low idle on 96 accord 2.2 non vtec. It gets very low and sometimes dies while I drive. What should I do? I have cleaned iacv but when I tried to adjust the screw it just tanked. I don't know what to do.

What's low? The car should be ~700-800rpm when sitting.

And there's quite a few threads on what to do for a surging idle (which you don't mention is happening) - what screw are you adjusting? You need to give way more info before just doing things ***** nilly.

It's not a surging idle it's just low like 250 to nothing it will just die as I'm driving. I think it's the idle screw. It was one of surging guides someone had recommend before.

Its also throwing the code p0108 but I don't think that is part of it because it's been having trouble for months now.

How long ago did this start? Did you change anything and then this issue started?

Something you should check anyway is the FITV. It's the valve under the throttle body. It gets dirty and loose in there. Easiest way to get to it is to take off the throttle body

If you're messing with the one on top of the throttle body, that's for fine tuning the idle, that's not for cranking it up ~500rpms.

I'd second the TB\FITV\IACV cleaning that AndyD mentioned. You cleaned the IACV but not the TB or FITV.

However, if the car is dying while driving you probably have some other things going on as well.

Sounds like you previously had a surging idle and messed with the idle adjustment screw to "fix" it. Then you fixed the surging idle but now the base idle is too low.

Now you gotta reset your base idle back to the way it was.
