Icon6 Rail & injectors

I've got a skunk2 composite fuel rail and (stock size) Oside injectors coming. I'd say I'm only a fair mechanic. Most of my experience comes from earlier days of air-cooled VWs and older motorcycles.

My biggest problem is that I work out in the middle of nowhere and if I need some odd part I've got to order it. I've got to take a 2k mile trip at the end of next month, so if I do have to order something, it'll push me up against my deadline of leaving.

I've got all the possible oem connection washers coming, but haven't ordered a fuel filter, mine seems to be working fine. I have looked at fuel regulators, but don't know which one would be good.

Any other tips or advice would be appreciated. Anything I'm likely to run into during this switch, from the guys here that have done this?

Thanks!

what CC, are you turbo-ing the car why new injectors?, either way a stock FPR will do just fine. not quite sure what you're asking.

I'm not doing any extensive mods right now. I just want the car to run as good as possible. Skunk2 claims their composite rail will decrease the fuel temperature, significantly, and is good for stock or extensive mods later. The Oside 4 hole high impedance injectors also for stock replacement at 280cc, but should deliver better atomization.

All I'm after right now is the potential for better mileage when I keep my foot out of it, or better performance if I put the throttle down. At under $400 for both, it could pay for itself even if I only get a mile per gallon better...eventually.

Right now I drive half way across Texas a few times a year, at 80mph and I'm getting 29.6 mpg. I'd like to improve that a little.

I'm just looking for potential problems I might run into.

Here's a good tip..someone broke a rail stud: Here

I did find a video on how to undo the connector:

I had no idea this injector connector has a metal clip. That's one problem solved.
