Looking for Engine/Transmission Swap Advice
I have a manual 97 Integra. My transmission is going bad and while I'm taking care of that I would like to go ahead and swap the engine also. I have looked over some of the forums but haven't quite found what I am looking for. I was thinking the K20 but I'm mostly just basing that on the displacement. I also have relatively no knowledge on transmission swaps. I plan on eventually getting a turbo down the road also so I'm sure that will factor in as well. The price isn't a huge issue. Any input is appreciated.
Simple answer:
Buy another ls transmission or rebuild the one you have. Swap in a B20 if you are hard-set on swapping a motor and are considering boost down the road or rebuild your ls.
Your options are all open from there.
H-T Answer:
DIAGNOSE, DIAGNOSE, DIAGNOSE...
Questions to ask yourself:
What is wrong with the transmission. Is it just a bad clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, internals...
Why swap engines? Engine feels sluggish, scary noises coming from inside, F&F7 coming out and I need more NOS...
The forums have a wealth of information for you to tap into. Start educating yourself on the basics and then you can progress to more complex subjects.
Cheers

a k-swap is not cheap or easy you end up investing money into the car it's self with that, so the body better be mint. boost wise a turbo b series is still king mainly due to the weak link of the k trans, trust me even at 600whp on a k24 we had issue a b-series at that hp won't sweat it. you haven't said what is wrong tho just the typical I want a k20 even tho a k24 will be the best bet tq wise you can make a k27 even.

I just said the k20 because I had a buddy with one in his car and it was really fun to drive. I'm really just trying to maximize the power I can get out of my car. There is nothing wrong with my engine, I would just like to upgrade to vtec. I can't remember what is wrong with the transmission I just thought that I would probably have to swap it out rather than rebuild it if I was upgrading to vtec.
turbo b-series... the trans on a turbo k is the weak link and the fact of just the kswap and the only real manifolds you can use are the sidewinder and "lean top mount" both excess of 1K. while a turbo b-series is much more option friendly from min-ram horns to topmounts, vtec isn't a must if you're going the FI route. A sub 300 whp build can be done for 2-3K buying new and used, set a power goal and read up on whats required it's a lot more then just a manifold/turbo/piping/FMIC etc, gauges and clutch and a EMS +tune *** up quick.
