I installed an alarm in my 1999 Civic. It said to "connect the yellow wire to the +12 volt Ignition Input, Connect to a main ignition wire at the ignition switch harness. I connected it to my black/yellow wire on the ignition harness, everything works, but programming the unit. To enter program mode I have to turn the ignition on. My guess is that the alarm doesn't know that the ignition is on. After doing some research I found that there is a second ignition wire that is just yellow. Does anyone know what wire is the right one?

 

What kind of alarm? What are you trying to do? Hook up remote start? Need more info.


Constant 12V -- White
Starter --------- black/white
Ignition ----------Black/yellow
Ignition 2 ----------Yellow
Accessory -------white/black

 

Its the Pyle PWD701alarm. I installed it with keyless entry. But i can't get it to enter programming mode which requires the ignition to be on which makes me think I have the wrong ignition wire.

 

I'm looking at the wiring diagram now.

The yellow wire to Black/Yellow is correct. I would check the connection and insure it's proper.

 

Alright I thought u was right I'll double check that the connection is sound.
