2006 civic lx engine replacement
hey guys, just picked up a blown up 06 civic lx sedan 5 speed to upgrade from my ek sedan dd. looking to get a motor for it this week and i have a few questions cuz i don't have much experience with these new civics.
Is there any difference in a auto longblock vs manual longblock? reason i ask is local junkyard has a motor out of a manual and an auto, same price, but the auto has about 20k less miles. i know i'll use my current harness and all that but is there any difference in sensors or anything like that i should know about?
also, i'm planning on doing clutch, and water pump while its out, anything else i should consider doing while i have the engine out of the car?
any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

the transmissions would have the same bolt up, so if you get the lower mileage engine, make sure the sensors on the engine itself are in good shape. The ECM for that engine would be a good thing to grab as well just in case your current one doesn't like the new engine.
If they sell it engine and tranny complete, you can always sell the tranny and recoup some of your money back.

Try to get a motor from like 2008-2009 or newer. Early ones have issues with seeping coolant because junk casting. Honda extended the warranty a great deal on these cars engines
I actually found a couple from a 2010 that are around the same price, just a little farther drive. I was just concerned they may have changed some things that may make it a pain to swap in. If its basically the same, I will definetly go that route, I have read about cracked block issues and don't want to deal with that! Thanks for the advice.
great! Going to pick up a 2010 engine with 60k tomorrow, its out of an auto so can't use the ecu or anything like that, I don't see any reason mine won't work fine. Exedy oe replacement clutch on the way for it also. Thanks for the responses guys!
