Default A/c failure

I have a 96 Accord coupe. 2.2l Non vtec.

My ac failed. I came to a stop the pulley seized and the belt melted to it. Before this Im pretty sure it was blowing cold air. Now my question is. When i pull it off how do i check to see what failed. If it its the compressor there will be some metal shavings right. but what about if the clutch failed or a pressure safety switch how do i start figuring out what I need to replace.

Also How important is it to replace the condenser and stuff if i end up opening the system. If i could get like 8 more months out of it that would be great.

you guys have always been great in helping me. If i have to replace all the Ac every system will have been fixed by me. so thanks for your help.

Had the same thing happen to me took it to get checked out ended up being a seized compressor. Sounds like it could either be clutch, pulley or compressor itself but if you look around some shops do free ac inspections. Bought kit from rockauto and if you plan on doing it you might as well replace condenser expansion valve or orfice tube and receiver driers it's the smart safe thing to do if your gonna be working on ac system. If you decide to check the oil for metal shavings and it's not bad you can save your condenser bt should still flush. Hopefully someone else could have some input but I fixed my ac system it's not all too difficult just study on it and get diagrams and service manual and rent / buy all the proper tools

Obviously the clutch seized. See if the middle will turn. If all is seized, then you'll need to replace the compressor, drier and condenser. Plus, Hondas use an expansion valve instead of an orifice tube. So you should replace that too. That's a big job though. Many folks don't, sometimes its ok, sometimes they have to go in after and replace it.
