Default Technical questions for those of you running a Fmax turbo system.

How many thousand miles do you have on your turbo kit?

What is the turbine air ratio?

How is the downpipe, intercooler, and intercooler piping holding up?

The Fmax turbokit will support up to how much horsepower? (Assuming you have a fully built engine.)

Would you suggest getting the lower compression head gasket, or the MSD unit?

How are the additional fuel injectors holding up? How is the throttle plate/throttle body? I assume it gets darn filthy, since your dumping fuel right before it.

So far, has the kit been reliable?

Thanks for your reply.

What is the turbine air ratio?
You can specify what size turbine A/R you want, depending on what boost characteristics you want and you power goals.

The Fmax turbokit will support up to how much horsepower? (Assuming you have a fully built engine.)
I would not recommend boosting higher than 9 PSI with the FMAXs AIC ++injector setup. So the "stock" FMAX kit is somewhat limited.

Would you suggest getting the lower compression head gasket, or the MSD unit?
MSD

How are the additional fuel injectors holding up? How is the throttle plate/throttle body? I assume it gets darn filthy, since your dumping fuel right before it.
I would be more worried about the injectors positioning and uneven fuel distribution. If you are considering the FMAX kit and have high HP expectations, try ordering the kit without the MF2 and additional injectors, and just get you own (better) fuel setup.

EDIT: hehehe, I just noticed your location too, I am "somewhere in Korea" and you're "somewhere in MN" =P

How many thousand miles do you have on your turbo kit?
I had about 25k miles on it before I rebuilt the engine. The only thing left on my turbo kit from the original F-Max kit is the BOV, WasteGate, IC, and IC piping.

What is the turbine air ratio?
a/r is .63 that comes with the kit. This isn't the only spec that you should be looking into.

How is the downpipe, intercooler, and intercooler piping holding up?
Downpipe rusts pretty quickly, but it's solid and fits well. If your area doesn't salt roads, you should be fine. The dump tube fitting kinda sucks. It's just a slip joint and it's impossible to get it to be leak proof. IC piping is powdercoated, but the process is not that great. The pipes are welded steal and will rust in areas that the powdercoating chips off of.

The Fmax turbokit will support up to how much horsepower? (Assuming you have a fully built engine.)
Just leavng it as delivered I would say it supports no horsepower.

Would you suggest getting the lower compression head gasket, or the MSD unit?
Get whatever you can resell for a better proce.

How are the additional fuel injectors holding up? How is the throttle plate/throttle body? I assume it gets darn filthy, since your dumping fuel right before it.
TB doesn't get dirty at all. I ran on the extra injectors the entire time, but they are very difficult to run properly. I would never run those things again, or install them in anyone elses car. That goes the same for FMUs. If you go turbo, get a standalone, Hondata, AEM, Haltech, whatever and get it tuned properly, or even better, learn how to tune it yourself. If you're going to get the kit, order it without the MF2 and injectors.

So far, has the kit been reliable?
It was relaible for me. I got the engine rebuilt only because I wanted to put out more power, not because it was blown. I ran it with quite a few aids, including a J&S safeguard. I'm not heavy on the throttle wherever I go and I was very careful with it.

There are alot of blown turbo H22's. Don't start down this path unless you really have alot of time, money, and energy to put into it.

what do you mean by this???? why are there alot of blown H22's....is it because people dont build up their motors to take the boost or what? I need to know because im gonna order a turbo kit next week!!!! Thanks!

we like to spin main bearings too. anyway the ringlands on H series is not all that so make sure its tuned right and has enough fuel. dont go over 7-8 psi.

Good Advice!!! That MF2 additional injector setup is a load of crap......

if u cant affored a standalone fuel setup, u can always try the vafc hack. i just got my car runnin again a couple days ago, the vafc hack has made my car run so much better than when i had the mf2 setup with my fmax kit. also with the fmax, u cant run a t3/t4e without adding a spacer, i ditched mine and went with the new drag4, so far so good.

=P I didn't forget everything, just the really really important stuff. hehehe

I'm gonna be getting back into cars now since I'll be coming back to CA in a few days. I am still deciding if I wanna try to get a 3rd Gen RX7 or a new 350Z, and in the end either one is gonna have either a bigger single turbo (RX7) or I will put one on there (350Z).
