Well I bought my first teggy 16 days ago - 92 Aztec green db2 gsr. Bard 94 gsr. Rebuilt bottom, ARP bolts and what not. New valve job. Skunk manifold. Short shifter, itr exhaust. Leather interior. Brand new tokico blues on eibach sports. Only problem, hasn't been up to date since 2012.
And today, my opinion of cops changed. Got my car towed for having expired tags... Cops want 160$, tow yard wants 240$ + 100$ daily storage. Registration is 800$. Also needs insurance for them to release it.
Unfortunately, I'm broke and onlyhave like 300 to my name.
Would it be worth it to save it?
Oh and its going to be crushed because I pulled the dizzy ecu and cam gears a week ago. So it doesn't fire up.
Now I need advice on how to get it out as cheaply as possible, like anyone have experience with the tow people? What to say for them to release it without me having to have registration up to date?
Otherwise one less Aztec green gsr in the US.

 

If it wasn't running then i assume they caught you at home? pls give more details or did you get into the impound yard AFTER it was towed. Where do you live that cops can tow it for that here in Toronto you need to either be drunk, "reckless driving" or speeding over 50 the posted speed limit.

 

It wasn't running. It was just parked on the street on the side of my mother in laws house. I thought they would at least warn me to before towing, but no warning was issued. I live in ca

 

well I think it's more then just a tags issue sounds like it was on the street for some time, aside from out in the county anywhere I've lived in town to downtown in the city has had strict rules about parking on the street. Especially if it's a small street or a picky subdivision, how much do you have in it? I assume you have another car by the sound of it.

 

I would think they would issue me a warning of 72 hours to move it. Its not parked like on a busy street. Its parked like at the end of a cul de sac .and yeah I have other cars, but that car was worth the most, to me.

 

Yes, you should save it. If you can't, I'm sure a number of people in California would be willing to for the fees and what not. Definitely check at g2ic.com before you let it get crushed.

Get it registered Lol. It has a lien on it because I bought it from the tow yard. Does anyone know if that lien sale cancels out the old 800 registration fees by previous owner? My guess is it starts over, clears it. I mean the tow yard took the liscence plates and told me they're gonna destroy them, so I figured that past registrations fees go away.
