There is a 3 page thread on VWVortex about how crazy the price is "ricer car, not so special, who would pay that money yada yada". I'm curious who all is bidding on it.

It looks like the reserve has been lifted no? Meaning that the highest bids wins. It climbed $6k in the last 24 hours.

Up to $36500! (18) different bidders so far. You can tell that they are all different because eBay lists the starting character and ending character of your user name whenever you bid for their public auction record. They also show the number of transactions each user has had after their username in parentheses. I would guess that this is probably THE most exceptional example of a 97 Integra Type R left in existence, but it's still amazing how the high the price tag has climbed with more than 3 days left in the auction. Should we place bets?

I honestly don't think the price is that far off. It's an almost new car... $28,000 of 1997 dollars would be worth $41k in today's money. So the owner is still selling at a loss.

If I didn't have a full garage i'd buy that thing in a heart beat.

I agree with you 100%. Though I do think it's going to go for more than 41k, so the owner would profit if we were to use that as a benchmark. There are still more than 3 days to go.

I wish that I could buy it too.. I'm a couple weeks away from closing on a house with a likewise spoken for garage. But my real reason for not buying is that my wife would murder me! She has already tried to suggest selling my 98 multiple times (unsuccessfully.) Can you imagine what would happen to me if I spent a chunk of our downpayment on another Type R? "But it's the best one!" would be the last words that I ever speak.

That type R is pretty much new. Owner prob knew he was going to keep it as a collector car from the get go. I wish I had a climate controlled 12 car garage lol.

I remember when e30 m3's were starting to bid for this much, NOBODY believed a tuned out "e30" would ever go for "25k" or "30k". The itr is most definitely Japans e30 m3, outside of the jdm market their were very few numbers made and even now the jdm market is running low on itr's due to the amount of front clips that have been exported out. Get ready people, in about 5-6 years the itr will no longer be a "15k" car, it's going to be a 25k+ car.

You're seriously mis-informed. $23K wouldn't have bought that car 5 years ago, let alone now.

Such better ways to spend that amount IMO if you want a true performance car. But then again I also think people that pay that much for a Supra are stupid as well.

The ITR being a "true performance car" is never why the car was popular in the first place. It has a following for so many other reasons. Same could be said for the E30 M3.

Go back to the normal Integra forum if you can't see this.

EXACTLY, I remember when people were saying that about the e30 m3 but like the m3, the itr is a very special car, it was built in a era of racing and Honda made it as a homologation car to their racing heritage, the only people mad are the peasants who can't get their hands on itr's or regular integra owners lolol.

Your just mad that your "rs" only resells for about 500 bucks, sorry chump, maybe one day you can experience a REAL itr, other than a swapped rust bucket. I pin you in the same group as regular bmw e30 owners who are clearly blind to what makes the e30 m3 so different, in this case, it's you to the itr.

Fair enough, I guess I don't "get it". A "true performance" car does not come in a N/A 4 cylinder form. I'll find the door myself now.

Coming from someone with "gangstakid" in their username, please don't take offense when I say I cannot take you seriously.

lololol, sorry my username forbids me from making any logical statements, I apologize but please don't be mad because your integra rs is basically a chump bucket and like the other guy said, if you don't "get" why the itr is worth what it is, then you simply shouldn't be in this forum . I'll say it again, it's like comparing a e30 to a e30 m3, if you don't understand the difference between the two then chances are you simply don't give a ****
