Default Lateral Axle Play .. Normal ?

Related to my other two threads, I have a 2013 Honda Civix LX runnung 53000Km.

My first thread i posted was regarding hearing a clunk noise when I brake the first time when in gear.
Ex. In reverse, hit the break, clunk, hit the brake no clunk. Change to Drive, hit the brake clunk, hit it again no clunk and etc..

Many people told me including the dealers that my brake pad have clearance allowing them to move causing that clunk at first application as I had no retainer holding the brake pads in place.

But, I lifted up the car and held the passenger side Axle shaft, the side that is connected to the tranny, and I could push with a little force the shaft up and down (towards the engine and towards the ground) just a small distance (1-->2 cm's) and when I let it go, it goes back in place.

I have a second another symptom, at highway speeds (100 Km/hr --> 120 Km/hr) I have that really small but noticeable vibration in the steering wheel.
I don't want to blame the axle before balancing and rechecking all 4 wheels first, but until then both the clunk sound when braking and the little play in the axle are driving me crazy, making me feel I bought a screwed up car.

I mostly worried about the axle, is that play normal or not and my it be causing both clunking and vibration ?

Thanks in advance

Where are you located? I'm assuming somewhere in Canada... If in Ontario, curious to know which dealership you went too.

I honestly would suggest maybe bringing it to a different dealership since you are still under warranty.

The vibration could be due to a wheel not being balanced correctly, tires being in bad shame (ie, ***** or belt shifted) or a bad alignment which caused the tires to wear out a certain way.
