Recently i bought a b16a head off someone..which he bought from someone else and hes never used..had the head sitting..only thing i know it was previously used for a ls/vtec setup..anyways i posted pics of parts of the cams that were scored..fingernail grabbing grooves..only spots that are like this are the outside journals of the cam..exhaust side has the worst..the cam cap pic is the exhaust side by the vtec selenoid..i use a mic and where the grooves are on the cam journal are high spots..about .0005 or 7 higher then the rest of the journal..depending when i take measurements as i spin the cam..the intake side has a small groove but not a bad as the exhaust. im asking u guys if i should worry about this? should i take my cams to a machine shop or it something i should use emery cloth/sandpaper..ive read this is caused from having the timing too tight? could this be correct?thanks for any inputs
