hi all, im new to the forum but your help would be much appreciated.

I have a 2002 hr-v 1.6 16v non vtec I recently replaced the engine with an identical one as mine had died, I replaced the timing belt water pump clutch put it all back together and it started up first time although it was idling a bit fast.
I let it get to normal running temp then it started surging between 1500-2000rpm and it just constantly goes up and down.

have since replaced the throttle body gasket and the inlet manifold gasket, iacv, checked all hoses for leaks checked the timing and there is no air in the cooling system. I am now at a loss as I have run out of ideas so any help would be welcome.

 

do you have a check engine light?

where are you at? I had to look up the HR-V because I didn't remember it by name, and it turns out that I have never seen it!
