Default Returning to stock muffler

When I bought my car, it had already 2.25" exhaust all the way back to the muffler...this muffler has rusted out. I picked up a stock muffler today and my idea was to install it...but then got to reading, will the stock 1.75"ish stock muffler cause issues? This is my daily driver, and I want to keep my MPG as high as possible..

Any opinions??

Depends on your power level.
If you have a stock engine, and switch to stock muffler, you may actually gain some low end/mid range power.

I noticed my small turbo D16 was obviously being choked\held back in the mid range to high, when I went to stock pipe and muffler.
Went back to 2.5 the next day, no look back.

Wouldn't recommend it. You can get aftermarket that looks stealth and still maintain performance.
