01 Prelude clutch problem
Hello everyone, I've got a question about my clutch for my 01 prelude base type. I currently have a clutch net stage 3 6 puck sprung inside my baby. The problem is that, there has been a few occasions that the shifter would either get stuck in a gear or won't go in a gear. This will happen in the middle of my ride to school, or to the store for instance. I'm to the point where I just wanna yank it out and put something new in her. My question's are....1) what do you think the root of the problem is? Clutch Cable or the actual clutch itself?
Have you checked to see if your clutch master cylinder or slave are leaking? Does the clutch pedal feel any different? Check the fluid level and try bleeding the clutch line. Could be a leak or could just be air in the line.
I've replaced the clutch master and the slave. They were leaking. The problem still persist. It's weird cause it feels as if its not engaging, so it stays in whatever gear its in. I'll pump the clutch a couple of times and boom....she's back in gear.
I just put a Brand new OEM tranny in it about 6 months ago. Unless the guy that put it in was incompetent. Anything is possible...lol.

Its either the trans was not rebuilt correctly or the clutch was not torqued properly or the guy seriously sucks at installing a transmission, which could happen but I am doubting unless it was his first day on the job. I would take it back to the shop that installed it and explain the issue at hand that you are experiencing.

He says he pumps the clutch a few times and he's back in business.
Probably a hydraulic problem. Air in the lines, master cylinder not adjusted properly, etc.

I appreciate all the help guys. I'm glad that everyone has been helpful. B serious I've bled the lines. I have had to refill the fluid for the master cylinder 3 times in 3 months though. I can't find a leak though. SMH

So...its a hydraulic leak then. You probably either have a line loose (look harder for the leak), or check where the pedal meets the firewall. Disappearing fluid means you have an external leak somewhere.

ok frist when ur driving at a speed look around 6000 or more rpm u can swith gear u will feel the gears open its a old trick not to be done everyday
I think Mega is trying to ask if you can shift with rev matching, i.e. accelerate, then pop it out of gear, drop the rpm by the amount equal to the gear change, and then pop it into the next gear as the speed matchs the tranny rotation.
How people used to drive OLD manual trans cars, before syncros and decent clutches were invented.
Personally, I would say either hydraulic leak, especially if you keep losing fluid, and possibly a sticky bearing in there, and a shaft not greased with good high temp grease like the Honda Urea grease.

Snobordboy Thanks, I figured thats what he was talking about as I've heard of that technique before but I've never tried it. I'll have to add, If I did have to do that to get my car into gear then I would most likely change the whole thing anyways. Thanks a lot guys. I'm gonna go check into that Leak and see if I can pin point whats up. Thanks again everyone and if you have anymore suggestions just let me know.

If the engine and driveline speeds match up close to perfectly, you can shift without the clutch.
But....that has nothing to do with the issue in this thread.
