Default 1997 Honda Accord AC delete help.

Just a quick question, I was wondering the Belt that operates the A/C compressor if I remove it along with the whole A/C setup will it affect my car in any negative ways. This car is just a fun car that I bought for cheap I've been removing stuff on it I don't need. All I want to know is can I cut the belt and remove the compressor & does that belt operate anything else other than the compressor thank you.

As long as you find a belt to run your alternator, you should be good. No ac though, will result in your defrost not working very well. Alot of times, they sell AC delete pulleys, that install in the place of your compressor...adn you use the same belt.

No need to install a pulley in the place of the AC compressor. They sell belts for non AC Accords of that year. Can't remember the part number, any parts store should have it listed though.

I did the delete years ago on my 96 F22B2. Bought the shorter Alternator w/o AC belt nd never had any issues. Heater and defrost seemed to work ok in the winter up here!

The heat works fine, but the defrost relies on the compressor to help with moisture removal. This helps clear the windows. At least here in the south...where it is humid alot.

Gottcha! HVAC isn't part of the car that I ever paid much attention to...lol

My A/C wasn't working for a year or two prior to removal. Probably why I never noticed the difference after it was removed. I always just cranked the heat to high and cracked the window a little.

The DX trim Accords had AC as an option. So you would need to find the part number of the belt needed for a DX without AC.
