For a short period of time now when I shift from Park to Drive or Park to Reverse my Civic sort of jolts forward and this only happens when I shift from Park to Drive or Reverse. The car shifts fine when I am driving, all my other gears work good. Occasionally when I **** into drive the indicator of what gear i am in on the dashboard P D N R D2 it will say it is in Neutral or nothing will be highlighted but if I jiggle the shifter or go from Park to Drive it illuminates. Has anyone ever experienced this or has some solutions as to what causes these issues?

 

You'll get a jolt if the idle speed is high, such as on a cold morning. That's normal.

But you need to adjust the shift cable or gear switch in the console.

So i tried to do these adjustments but the car is still doing the same thing. unfortunately i couldn't find this positioning hole that the instructions were talking about

Well than you have to adjust the gear switch if you remove your front passanger side wheel you will see that switch which is covered with black plastic cover. This issue is already covered if you look up the transmission issues you will come across that thread and will tell exactly how this is done. Hope this helps.
