Default exhaust - resonator

i was wondering.. currently.. my exhaust set up is like this.. headers.. cat.. 2.25" piping w/ aftermarket (ultraflo i believe)muffler..
now.. it sounds prety damn ricey.. really loud.. and kinda med-high pitched.. basically your bee in a can sound.. would adding a resonator bring the volume down quite a bit?? and also.. would it change the tone of the sound coming out? cuz mine is really ugly sounding.. id prefer a much quieter lower sound

also.. when buying a resonator .. wut shoudl i look for? can i just buy any resonator for a civic si? or any resonator at all?
is it better to buy used or new??

thanks guys

yes a resonator should take out the bee sound and it will quiten it down a bit. not sure on brands or anything. never bought a resonator by itself. a muffler shop has them though

just depends on the resonator. Like said before, just go to your local muffler shop and tell them what you want to do. They should be able to hook you up with what your looking for.

it all depends on how long of a resonator you want, and yes it will quiet it down.

my setup on my old hatch was like this.... header, no cat..resonator turned catch way, 2 1/4 pipe, resonator turned flow way, muffler. It was a decently throaty sound. I think if you got a resonator and turned it the flow way you would be happy. Just go to a good muffler shop and say you want a resonator and they'll show you sizes. I think mine were around 18 inches long, and they can be turned one of two ways, the catch way, which acts more like a cat and restricts the flow a little, then the flow way, which like it says, flows more but still tones the exhaust down. Thats just my 2 cents though, maybe that was some help
