Default Just got a 98 v6 accord with bad trans

Hi guys I haven't been on here in awhile well anyways I just got a 98 v6 accord that needs tlc the transmission being the first anyways the car will sometimes switch gears ok but most of the time it acts up and jerks and the reverse works sometimes The cel light doesn't work, also the d4 light doesn't flash either but I was mainly asking if I need to just rebuild/replace the transmission or do I need to replace the solenoids cause I really want to have this car be my dd for awhile and this forum has the best people to help with this situation so whatever you guys think let me know please and I've searched on the threads already too

maybe clutch wear, but to be sure d&f the trans with Honda ATF, the real stuff, not 'Honda Compatible'.

I do ~3 d&f on new used cars, to make sure it's all ok.

Beg/Borrow/Steal OBDII code reader.

Check for codes.

xci ed6 and MAD MIKE have the best two suggestions to start with. Reading codes will rule out if just replacing solenoids will solve the issue but it is unlikely. A draining, flushing and filling of the transmission fluid would be my second move, sometimes that is all you need, but check the level first it could just be low. There is a small yellow handled dip-stick for the automatic transmission on the front of the trans. These cars from what I know, are known to have transmission issues. I'm thinking this one is no different, try searching about the sixth generation v6 trans problem and seeing what the resolve was for them, i'm betting it was a rebuild/replacement of trans for 90%.
