when the Maintenance minder indicator comes on the change the oil and have other items checked out, could I bring my own oil in and have them use that instead of the regular oil honda uses?

 

Of course. As long as it's correct weight.

 

Don't do that. They will look at you weird. Most dealership already have some sort of oil change special. It's not that far off from buying oil yourself.

 

ok lets say if it comes up with the maintenance minder code A 13 which is rotate tires, replace transmission fluid, and change oil and I want to change the oil my self. how would that work could I change the oil and then bring it in for them to do the transmission fluid and rotate tires then they would reset the maintenance minder?

 

If you are going to do the oil.....why not change the trans fluid as well? Ok some of the new Accords the drain bolt and the splash pan don't line up too well and you might have to open up the splash pan a bit - you never stated if it was an auto or manual.

The a local tire shop can/will balance and rotate the tires for much less than a Honda deal - just guessing. You re-set the "reminder" and your done

 

You can tell them to use Synthetic oil, which will cost a little more. I personally, don't bring my car to the dealer or any shops for maintenance because i do all the maintenance myself. so i ignore all those messages for the main minder.
here are the break downs for basic maintenance:
-change oil when it goes down to 10-20%
-rotate tires every 7000 miles (according to the owner's manual)
-change transmission oil every 50,000 miles (use only Honda/Acura genuine oil, manual says around 30,000 miles, but nowadays they will even last as long as 100,000 miles)
-change air filter and cabinet filter every 30,000 miles (also depends on the driving condition).

Note: Walmart charge about $20 for tire rotations. When buying new tires try to find a place where they include road hazard, balancing and rotation for the life of the tire, such as Costco (best price with the best packages included without charge). Try avoid tire kingdom if you can, they will charge you for everything, they will make you do alignment ($90)in order to get the warranty.
