i just bought a 2000 accord. its the v4 coupe. i have given it a complete tune up, new plugs and wires all filters coolant,oil. replaced thermostat. previous to the tune up there was no heat and car would over heat. thought thermostat would fix that issue. dont think its water pump because the weeper valve is not leaking and water in radiatoer is moving, though not great. top hose on radiator gets really hot. fans are working fine. what could be causinf it to overheat like that and how do i fix it

Could be the radiator and/or heater core but we'd be talking about a potential clog and that just isn't likely.
Could be the head gasket, how many miles does it have? Does the exhaust have a sweet smell or white smoke? Was the coolant ever dark with oil?

 

Did you flush the radiator fluid? Is the over heating causing the car to stall or not start?

 

Was it overheating before installing the thermostat or not ?

If not, start the car and crack open the bleeder bolt and close it in a few seconds when air stops coming out.

 

Is it overheating by gauge or do you think it's overheating just because the top hose is hot?
