'00 Civic CX misfire.
Hello everyone, I am a first time honda owner. I have some experience with maintaining my own vehicle, but some issues are well beyond me. I purchased a 2000 Civic Cx just the other day, knowing full well it randomly misses. However I believe the issue may be a fuel/air ratio issue because the misses occur in specific places in relation to the acceleration pedals position. However while driving yesterday I got the idea to put the vehicle in neutral as I cruised and rev the engine, when I did so there were no misses at all. I though this odd so I put it back into drive and misses started again, still in the same regions of the acceleration pedal's range of motion. I placed the vehicle into neutral again and revved the engine twice, to high RPM's and again no misses. This time however when I put the vehicle back into drive I had no misses for about 10-15 miles before they started again in earnest. Now if the problem were spark plus/wires/distributor wouldn't the misses occur no matter what gear the vehicle is in? Thank you for any help in advance as I purchased this thing to get it in shape and have a decent daily driver.
