OBD1 JDM B16A IN 00 EM1 QUESTION...
Seeking advise from the professionals here. I was going to swap a JDM B20B into my 00 Honda Civic Si but for simplicity reason I decided to stick with the B16A. I have been told I can use a OBD1 JDM B16A (92-95 spec) swap over the whole intake manifold, distributor, and alternator with reusing the USDM P2T ECU and the factory OBD2 engine harness with no problems. I was hoping that someone here can confirm this for me and also let me know of any problems I may run into and things I should consider before going through with this swap. thank you.
Depending on what state you live in and the emissions testing you could fail on visual alone as it is an older engine in a newer car. Like said above you can swap over the manifolds including injectors, alternator and distributor for plug and play. The only thing missing is that the obd1 b16 doesn't have the CKF sensor by the crank so you'll either need to run a bypass or swap over the CKF components including oil pump. This Is of course you plan on running your current OBD2 ECU.
So what is all involved in making a JDM B16A 96-98 spec work in my EM1? I know the 96-98 spec is OBD2A but the from the factory the EM1 is a OBD2B. As much as possible I would like to reused the factory EM1 engine harness and USDM P2T ECU.
See here's the thing, you can't just switch up your question as you please. Are you going to be swapping an obd1 or an obd2 motor into the em1?
