96 accord idle problems
I have 96 accord. 2.2 non vtec that has idle issues. When it starts it idles low and I have to apply the throtle to keep it going it going. Then when I warms up sometimes it idles well then a few minutes later it idles high like 2000 rpm. Sometimes it dies because it idles so low. I've cleaned the idle control valve and I think it worked for a little bit. I live in Tucson Arizona so the coldest it gets here is like 50 degrees at least when I drive it. Also it leaks power steering fluid and I swear it runs better right after I fill it but I might just be crazy.
It has 180.000 and I just replaced timing belt and water pump, rack and pinion. New tires. So I've put some money and time into it.
I'm pretty good at figuring out how to take things apart and even replaced my brothers head gasket (97 accord). His runs well so if at all possible I can replace parts to figure out where to start and what needs replacing.
Thanks guys you help so much

If the engine is surging idle up and down to 2,000 rpm could be a vacuum leak... As for as the low idle I would unplug the IACV and adjust idle screw at throttle body...
ENGINE MUST BE FULLY WARMED!!!
Just unplug iacv, rev engine up and let idle settle. Then monitor rpm with a obd2 scanner for better accuracy and set the idle to round 750 + or - 50 by turning the screw in or out.. After adjusting screw rev engine again and let idle settle and check rpm again.
Then replug in iacv and clear codes if any...
*Note do these steps with no engine load.. cut off lights, radio, everything...
Don't mind the differences in the picture if any.. focus on idle screw location
also you may want to take screw completely out and put some type of sealant on screw threads so it doesn't back out.. Mark screw with throttle body so you can recheck if the screw has moved out of place.
Also a valve lash adjustment isn't a bad idea...
