Default Muffler choice for 97 accord

Hello
I would like to have a more aggressive muffler, preferably bolt on. If like for it to be deep when I accelerate, but not for high way cruising. It's my DD and I'm usually around 2500-3000rpm. Is there a good balanced exhaust? I want it to be aggressive but not ricey and not make me kill myself on highway. Most of the exhausts I saw like Nvidia appear to be ricey as hell.
Thanks

Try a factory muffler from a different car mated to the factory exhaust. Unless you throw a tune on your car, there's not much gain to be had from an aftermarket exhaust. The header is a large gain depending on the engine currently in your car. I noticed a large gain from a header on my F22B2, but did an F23a1 intake manifold at nearly the same time.

Currently, I have an F23A1 swap(with F23A1 intake manifold) in my '97 LX on a factory exhaust, eBay header(shorter primary style), ebay Prelude intake and k&n cone filter, and an 05-06 RSX Type-S muffler. I love the sound, and it makes great power. If it wasnt for a broken exhaust manifold stud, it'd be DEAD silent on the freeway. A better header, 2.5" exhaust, less restrictive muffler(currently really not a restriction at this power level), a tune and some porting/cutting of the intake manifold would add a TON of power, when tuned

Excuse the crap quality/shifting. Its very quiet at idle and casual driving. Gets loud when I get into it. Car is slow lol.

I might look into prelude intake, I took one of the air resonators off and the engine sounds like a tractor. Also I'm not really looking for gains, just the sound and the appearance of gains.thanks btw

This is actually relevant to me as well and doing some preliminary research, people are liking the OBX twin-loop muffler. It's the Mugen style and uses 2.5" piping, all stainless construction. There seems to be issues with longevity in that it doesn't use as much steel wool as the original and that the welds are done with normal steel so the welds rust. But this is from 2006 and its 2014 now so ymmv. Consensus is that they last about a year and that they sound great.

Will that muffler even fit?
With that particular one id have to take it to a weld shop and for them to weld some brackets too right?

Correct, or have a friend who has a welder. Its a universal muffler. And they fit, lots of photos of the OBX twin-loop tucked-up under the rear bumpers of civics and accords.

There are other solutions. A straight-through presilencer just after the cat and a more traditional straight-through under the bumper, but then you'd need new piping as well. Or you could get a whole new cat-back system like the Apexi WS2. A NA F22 won't be bottled-up by that system until you invest some serious money in the top-end.

How is the durability compared to ebay exhausts? And I don't think I'll be investing much money in engine performance because I want to make sure the engine lasts.

The Apexi WS2 or the OBX twin-loop? I wouldn't question the quality of a Japanese-made cat-back that costs $600. Welded steel is welded steel, eBay exhausts are usually cheap because they're ripoffs, inferior grade steel, or the mufflers are packed with cheaper materials. In the case of the OBX muffler its because its packed with fiberglass and is an unengineered copy of the Mugen twin-loop muffler. Probably any resonant cancelling is incidental and its quietness comes from the two 180-degree turns and the fact that it is two mufflers. There is no free lunch. If you want an exhaust that will last longer than the car get a quality stainless cat-back from somewhere other than eBay. If you just want a more aggressive sound then look into the OBX twin loop or a Flowmaster. a mostly stock F22 shouldn't generate enough heat to break down fiberglass packing too quickly, or enough exhaust volume to make a Flowmaster genuinely restrictive.

Would the muffler fit tho and will brackets fit? Is this what you are talking about http://m.ebay.com/itm/261763098495?cmd=VIDESC
Actually I looked up what an oem muffler looks like, so I will have to find a muffer shop to do the welding for me.
